C-RCS Hosts FFA District 2 Leadership Event

Cobleskill-Richmondville High School proudly hosted an FFA District 2 Leadership Event on Wednesday, April 15, bringing together approximately 45 students from local chapters, including Sharon Springs, Schoharie, and Cherry Valley. The event welcomed both middle and high school students for a day centered on collaboration, connection, and leadership development.
The entire event was organized by C-RCS junior and FFA member Olivia VanEvera, whose vision and dedication made the day a success. Reflecting on the event, Olivia shared, “I feel it's very important to meet others and establish friendships and relationships that will last a lifetime as well as learn and develop leadership qualities that will help members strive and succeed in the future. Bringing members from other districts together for an event like this is a great opportunity for everyone to meet new people, to network, and to work together!”
Students participated in a variety of engaging workshops tailored to their grade levels and interests. Middle school students focused on Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAEs) and explored award opportunities available to them in high school, including earning the Greenhand Degree as freshmen and applying for Chapter Degrees as sophomores. High school students worked alongside New York State FFA Officers on goal setting, problem-solving skills, and teamwork, while additional leadership sessions emphasized building strong leadership qualities, fostering connections, and participating in group activities. All students ended the evening with fun activities like line dancing, cornhole, and basketball.
The District extends a sincere thank you to the event’s presenters for sharing their time and expertise: Mrs. Deb Fletcher, Mrs. Elizabeth Goblet, Kaylee Heroth, NYS FFA Secretary, and Mark Hoffman Jr., NYS FFA Treasurer. C-RCS is grateful for the opportunity to bring FFA members together for such a meaningful experience.
