Floral Design Students Get Hands On
Mr. Ferreira’s Floral Design I class at C-RHS is getting hands-on as students begin exploring the art of floral arranging.
The class kicked off its first project with a walk around the perimeter of the school property and collecting wildflowers that caught their eye.
The following day, students selected their own vases and used the flowers they collected to create their very first floral arrangements. Rather than focusing on making a “perfect” arrangement, students were encouraged to experiment, trust their creative instincts, and see where their ideas took them.
As the course continues, they will learn how to identify the flowers they use and will eventually become familiar with 125 of the most common flower species used in floral arranging.
Students will also have an opportunity to put their growing skills to work outside the classroom. This winter, the class will create floral arrangements for fundraisers, allowing students to apply what they have learned while contributing to the school community.
